Over-Ordered? Creative Ways to Use Extra Invitations or Cards

by Emma W.R. on June 26, 2015

Customer Idea

Simply said, “I love to throw parties!” I don’t care that I go crazy, get totally stressed out, and worry about every small detail. My kids call me a ‘worry wart’ but I still love it. The kids like the fact that I worry so much about not having enough of everything that always buy tons of extra everything. This means they have leftover junk food for weeks.  That’s fine. The problem comes when I buy extra of things like party invitations.  I mean what are you supposed to do with something that has a picture and is date stamped?

Then, one of our Cherishables customers, Michelle, submitted this comment:

“I recently purchased my sons grad party cards from you. I over bought and brainstormed a way to use up the extra invites. I came up with cutting out a circle around the picture and glued them into wood dowels that I bought at the store. I stuck them in planters, along the road and in each flower arrangement at the grad party. I received tons of compliments and inquiries.”

Michelle, I just love this idea. Great suggestion!

I thought I would throw it out there to our customers and blog readers and see what other cool concepts any of you have come up with for your left over cards….

Please let me know so I can pass along other great ideas.

Love this idea! In addition to using the left over invitations, I cut out baby pictures of my son and did the same thing so there were pics of him as a baby and a graduate! It was a hit.

Such a great idea! I also like the suggestion to make the cards into coasters.

I had about 20 extra cards from my party. I cut out the pictures and put them on popcicle sticks. Then we stuck them in sand filled vases for the centerpieces at the party. It was fun and simple.

Very resourceful! I hate to throw away extra invitations, but never thought of anything else to do with them.

What a great idea for leftover invitations! Luckily for my daughter’s last birthday I only had a few leftover. But we loved the design on the invite so much that we brought it to the bakery and had them design her cake to match!

Smart! I always order extra invitations because you never know if you invite more people or make a mistake filling one out. With photo invitations you definitely can’t use them again, but what a smart idea to add them to the decor and get crafty!

They make good coasters for wine glasses filled with wine.
