Four Money Saving Apps Every Mom Should Know About

by Emma W.R. on August 5, 2014

Most of us don’t have the time, patience, or amount of printer ink needed to be an extreme couponer, but saving money doesn’t have to be just for the super-dedicated. Here are four money saving apps everyone should know about! They’re all free for your Apple or Android phone, and if you’re really savvy, you can even redeem for the same item on multiple apps!

1. ibotta (ibotta.com)

  • Unlock rebates on groceries, restaurants, baby and pet items by completing tasks such as taking a 1-question survey, watching a short video, or viewing a recipe.
  • Shop for the products you’ve unlocked, verify your purchases, and scan your store receipt. (Check the app for the long list of available stores – with some, your loyalty card will link up for even easier rebating!)
  • Bonus! There are retail stores now included where you can shop online and get a rebate!
  • You can cash out with a minimum of $5 in rebates to your PayPal account, or select a gift card from Starbucks, iTunes, or other places.

2. Checkout 51 (checkout51.com)

  • Save on weekly rebates (the list is updated every Thursday morning).
  • Pick the rebates you like, shop anywhere (even online!), and upload a photo of your receipt or packing slip.
  • You can cash out with a minimum of $20, at which point you’ll get a check in the mail.

3. Shopmium (shopmium.com)

  • Choose an offer on the list and find it at your local store.
  • Bonus! The app will even locate stores that carry the item.
  • Scan your barcode & your receipt.
  • The app will automatically drop your rebates into your PayPal account… no minimum amount!

4. Ebates (ebates.com)

  • Use in-store coupons, scan products to compare prices, and get deal updates pushed to your phone.
  • Rebates are sent to you quarterly via PayPal or check.

I was always hesitant of using Ebates but I’m happy to see such great reviews! I never heard of the other sites but will make time to do so. Saving money is always the best!!

Ebates is a great and easy way to save. I do most of my shopping online and it is nice to get that check in the mail, even if it is only a couple bucks.

I envy people who super coupon, I honestly can’t find the time. I will clip from my local paper but most times I find the store brand cheaper than the name brand even after the coupon-most coupons now are for 2 of the item so I just get one store brand and I am better off
