Top 5 Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

by Emma W.R. on May 9, 2015

Mother’s Day gives all of us the opportunity to say “Thank You” to our moms in our own special way. Moms always seem to give so much to their children without giving it a thought so doing something special for her on this day should be an easy task. I understand that money is a problem for many children depending on their ages. I have listed ideas that cost nothing up to “we need to ask dad for help.”

1) A homemade coupon book will cost nothing but your time. Moms do so many chores that it is easy to come with some coupons that will be valuable to her. How about a coupon for no ask dishwashing for one week, or a dust the furniture and vacuum coupon? I know a laundry coupon was one of my mom’s favorites.

2) Bath accessories are always welcoming. Giving mom these simple pleasures is like giving her permission to take time for herself. You can get bubble bath, bath salts, lotions and/or a loofah. This idea does not need to cost a fortune. Do what you can.

3) One of the best gifts my kids ever gave me was a spa day.  Now I know this sounds pricey, but there are deals out there that start out as low as $20. You can get your mom a manicure/pedicure,facial or massage. She will definitely feel relaxed after this.

4) Usually I would say stay away from home décor items, but sometimes just the right item makes mom feel the love. Picture frames and candles can light up her day.

5) Tickets for a night out can mean almost anything from a movie, a comedy show or a play depending on the budget. This is something that I am sure mom did not account for when she is calculating expenses at the end of each week.

The point is every mom is special and Mother’s day is the day to make sure she realizes that her kids appreciate all that she does. It isn’t the price of the gift that matters; it’s the love and thought behind it. Make a point of showing your mom what she means to you especially on Mother’s Day.

A spa idea would be perfect for my mom! She never gives herself time to really just relax and treat herself, so that would be quite a treat for Mother’s Day along with making her a nice home-cooked meal and a fabulous dessert to top it all off.

A gift certificate for a mani-pedi always made me feel pampered on Mother’s Day. Once I was treated to tickets for a Broadway play, but bath accessories are nice too. The key thing is that they show some love and appreciation. The gift is not as important.

I gave my mom the spa gift card. She was able to be pampered and she loved it. If you can’t afford this by yourself, maybe the siblings will chip in. It’s worth it.

Love the coupon idea! And, of course, the spa if you can afford it. I think anything to either relax Mom or free up some of her busy time (by doing chores) would mean alot to her!
