Creative Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

by Emma W.R. on January 27, 2015

Ah, Valentine’s Day. Flowers and chocolate are nice, and dinner and a movie are just fine, but why not mix it up a little bit this year with some creative Valentine’s Day date ideas? Here are a few to get you started!

1.    Donate Blood

I think I stole this one straight out of an old episode of Beverly Hills, 90210. (Dylan & Brenda forever, am I right?) What better way to show you care – about your significant other, sure, but also about people in general – than by donating something that saves lives?

2.    Cupcake Tasting Tour

I saw this on television recently and thought it was a cute idea. I like wine as much as the next gal, but I have no idea about bouquets and letting it breathe and which years are the best. But cupcakes? Aren’t we all connoisseurs? Here’s a tip: make sure you’ll be in a city like New York for Valentine’s Day. Your chances of finding great bakeries by the block increase that way.

3.    Recreate your first date

Take a trip down memory lane and try to make it as close to that first date as possible. This could involve wearing the same outfits, sitting at the same table and ordering the same dish at the restaurant you met at, or tickets to the same band’s concert (not as hard as you might think – so many acts are on reunion tours, right?)

It doesn’t take much to make the same old same old extra special. Now it’s your turn: share some creative Valentine’s Day date ideas of your own with us!

These are great ideas for dates any time of year. Unfortunately, the burger joint where my hubby and I had our first date went out of business. Now the cupcake tasting tour is right up my alley. I never liked traditional cake, but cupcakes with fillings are my new guilty pleasure.

Valentines day has a very special meaning to me and my family members, we celebrate one of my Nephews born with a rare heart condition, the family gathers for a special dinner & his favorite desserts are served as we wish him a Happy Healthy Heart Day!

I’m all for the cupcake tasting tour but I will definitely pass on giving blood… It wouldn’t be very romantic if I passed out.

This idea made me think of recreating the first time we met! It was in a local bowling alley, each with our own group of friends. The adjoining lanes made it fun. Everyone started talking and cheering each other on for the strikes! We had so much fun! I’m looking forward to doing it again!

My hubby and I write each other a letter every Valentine’s day. The letters are usually full of reminiscing and reminders of what we love about each other. After 20 years of marriage it’s nice to take a few minutes to reconnect with all those wonderful memories and feelings, when we’re writing them as well as when we’re reading what the other wrote.
