Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

by Emma W.R. on February 10, 2015

I often wonder where the time goes. Before you know it there is another holiday to celebrate and unless you want to anger Cupid, you better remember to pick up some gifts. Now Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. For all the people in my family and my friends it is a no brainer. They love getting cards and pictures of my kids, so I will be doing Valentine’s Day Photo cards. Dress the kids up in red, snap a picture, download and order. Simple. However, the dilemma comes when I think about the special people that I actually buy a small gift for that creates a problem.

Words of Home Mug

Every year it’s what to give the grandparents? Will my husband really appreciate another pair of underwear with hearts on it? How much candy is just the right amount for the kids before they are sugar overdrive? We get so caught up in buying gifts that we forget what we are supposed to be celebrating. Valentine’s Day is meant to celebrate love. This year for me it will be about what is special to the people I love.

There is such a large selection of gifts to choose from and shopping on the web just makes it easier. I love the key chains shaped like a heart. They are inexpensive and can be personalized. A bear that has a special saying on its T-shirt, what little girl wouldn’t like that? My personal favorite is the coffee mug with a picture. I think my husband would love to have his children on his own mug. He is always gone by the time they get up so it would be like having breakfast with them every morning. I hope someone gets me the sweatshirt blanket so I can snuggle on the couch watching TV when its cold out. There are so many choices that I’m just going for mugs and mouse pads for all this year. Boring, maybe, but those pictures on each item will bring them a whole year of smiles and love.

I’ve decided to make the kids a special breakfast of heart shaped pancakes in the morning. After school, they will be heading to grandma’s with heart shaped cookies in the mugs. Then for my husband, a special romantic dinner with candle light, his favorite chicken Marsala, angel hair pasta, champagne and me . Feed them well and they will love you forever.

I received Valentine photo cards this past year for the first time from a relative that never got around to sending out her Christmas cards. What a great way to keep the family updated with pics of the little people. Who says you can only do this at the end of the year?

I love the photo calendar idea! Each month a new picture to admire; much better than an album. I am going to start collecting photos and order today.

I went with a photo calendar for my parents this year.. They love having photos of the grandkids to show off to their friends.

You’re right about the Valentine’s photo cards. Add a pic and a few words and send unexpected greetings to all your special people.. Lots of fun designs to choose from on this site.
