Birth Announcement Photo Ideas to Show off Your Newborn

by Emma W.R. on August 31, 2016

The birth of your baby is such a special time in a parent’s life.  Sharing this time has become so much easier with technology.  Between mailing birth announcements and posting pictures on social media, it is much easier to spread the great news.

I have come across so many great birth announcement photo ideas.  I particularly love when a baby is placed inside a larger object. Show off your newborn in a laundry basket stuffed with soft blankets.  Or how about wrapping your newborn in soft kitchen towels and placing them in a large decorative bowl?  The simplicity of a wicker basket with a fluffy white towel always makes me smile.

One great announcement I received was of my baby cousin wrapped in red felt with a Santa hat placed on her head on a Christmas ornament.  Every year we place this ornament on our tree with a smile.  There are so many awesome ideas for holiday babies.  Announce your Easter newborn surrounded with pastel eggs and carrots.

Showing off your angel or king can be especially easy if you place a simple crown or halo on their head.  Lay your king draped in a soft sheet laying on a large chair with his crown atop his head, and he will definitely earn his title.

So adorable! If you can get your baby to cooperate and take a good photo. I love the idea of simple stages, just blankets, or more intricate costumes.

My cousin had this adorable minion outfit that someone knit. It was adorable and she did that for her birth announcements. One of the cutest I’ve ever seen.

I feel so bad because my first child I had so many photos….with the second two, much less. It does really help getting a photographer in there though.

I tried taking photos of my son for birth announcements. I think I mist have filled the entire camera and got one that was barely passable! Babies are so difficult to photograph.

Oh my goodness that little baby is practically as small as the plush toys. So sweet! Lovely photo.

Gotta agree with Natalie – I always see this adorable perfect photos of newborns and cannot understand how the photographers get those gorgeous shots. I have to take atleast 50 to get one decent one of my son.

I’m due to deliver my bundle of joy in 3 months, so I’m glad for these ideas.

My daughter just gave birth to twin girls and I’m so happy. Yes, she’s getting the girls photographed and using it for their birth announcement. Love the ideas in your blog.

I cherish my granddaughter’s birth announcement. She just turned 16 and I added it to a video for her surprise birthday party. I’m so happy my daughter decided to have her photographed at birth and used it for her birth announcement.

You really need to capture the moments when they are young. They grow SO FAST – especially while still babies.

Having pictures of your baby, captures memories that last a lifetime. Birth announcement photo, sets the stage and should be a must in each newborn’s life. Not to forget, grandparents bragging rights, it’s a necessity.

I regret that I did not have this opportunity when my children were growing up. I see so many fun pics of my friends’ grand babies in the most adorable poses and the most creative settings. My fridge is covered with them! Can’t wait till it’s my turn 🙂

I think it’s such a wonderful idea to have your newborn photographed, to show off to your friends and family. It would be cute to dress them up to match the season they were born into. These photographers must have a lot of patience to pose an infant that can’t even sit up.

I watched a video of a photographer posing newborns for a photo shoot and it’s amazing! They feed the babies and make sure they’re sleepy and content and then start posing them.

I am always amazed how photographers manage to get these posed photos of infants. Very impressive!
