Wedding Planning – Fun Couple Picture Ideas

by Emma W.R. on March 2, 2016

When my boyfriend and I took the leap and decided to get engaged, I did not want to go with the traditional announcement poses.  We are known as the kooky couple who is always do something out of the ordinary.  Some may even say weird.  I wanted a photo that truly represented our style.  I went on a mission to find some of the best fun couple picture ideas.

Since we love fishing, we went with that theme.  This time I truly reeled in a big one!  There I am on shore with my hook attached to the back of his shirt.  It was fun to play with this.

I had so many other fun ideas for couple pictures that I felt I had to share them with everyone.

  • One friend suggested that my fiancé tie me up to unused train tracks and have it appear that he is rescuing me.
  • Being from Texas, another fun couple picture idea is to have me on my horse and my lasso around my fiancé’s waist. Me catching myself a wild bull. Lol
  • My dad was not happy when we were discussing this next idea. My husband wanted to be posed under my skirt with a sneaky sneer on his face. My friends would’ve laughed.
  • My friend actually took this great photo last summer of my fiancé and I on the beach. We were both lying on our stomachs facing each other, buried under the sand. We were just close enough and our lips touched in a fun kiss.

When planning your wedding, things tend to get more serious so why not keep the photo side of things lighthearted and fun.  You will keep your friends guessing what you will surprise them with next.

Fabulous ideas! Brides and grooms are so creative these days. When I got married we just went and had a few portraits taken in a studio at the mall!

What fun and original ideas!! This is much better than the stiff shots you’d usually see. But what do you even do with engagement photos??

These are hilarious. I think if I opt for a funny idea liek this my fiance will be more into the idea of photos. he hates the formal ones!

Not a fan of the girl pulling her fiance out of the water like a fish.. We involved our dog in our engagement shots and they came out great.

The Sandlot idea sounds so CUTE! Make the most of engagement photos and do something that’s near and dear to both of you. Candid photos are the best in my opinion, capturing real emotion and huge smiles without them feeling posed.

I didn’t know that people were doing these. They are great fun. I would love to get one of these as an announcement.

The fishing hook picture was a little creepy, I also thought she was dragging a body out of the dark murky waters.

I have only ever received traditional announcements – basically just the couple smiling at the camera. These fun ideas are great! We all know wedding planning can be stressful so why not be creative and have some fun along the way!

OMG I didn’t even realize that was the groom in the water at first. LOL!

We did one of those ‘olde tyme’ photos for our engagement pic – made a great keepsake!

I wish we had done an engagement photo, but we did get a great picture of us together in an old-style wooden phone booth in a hotel lobby. We barely both fit – it made a really fun couples shot 🙂

My husband and I love Halloween and always do costumes that go together, even when we were just dating. One of my favorites was when he was Indiana Jones and I was Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. That would have made a great announcement photo when we got engaged!

I just read something online about a couple using a Sandlot theme for their engagement pictures. The guy was “Squints” and the girl was the lifeguard.. The pictures came out nice but I’m more of a traditionalist.
