Why You Should Have a Traditional Wedding

by Emma W.R. on January 8, 2015

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. That rhyme has stuck in my head since I was a little girl. I like the idea of a traditional wedding with all the bells and whistles. I can picture a modest white wedding dress, church ceremony and binding vows in front of family and friends. The exchanging of rings that traces back to old folklore. The fourth finger is thought to have the strongest blood vessel to the heart. When the ring is placed on that finger, the couple’s hearts are joined as one.

Whatever culture, religion or customs you believe; I think you should embrace the past and follow your ancestors. Here comes the bride playing as you walk down the aisle and the grand reception where you share the first dance. Cutting the wedding cake and racing out to a car full of tied tin cans on the bumper. A nostalgic whirlwind of class that is old fashioned and full of grace.

Take this one day and make it elegant and memorable. You will be happy you kept it classy, sweet and sophisticated. And just think of the elegant photos you’ll have for your Wedding Thank You photo cards!

I didn’t go traditional at all. Going to traditional route is entirely too expensive nowadays!

I just adore attending weddings in old churches. There is something so classic about this tradition that I get a little sad when I go to a wedding held in a reception hall. I know this tradition is not for every couple but there is something so romantic about those stone edifices with their steeples pointing to the heavens!

Never knew that about why the ring is worn on the fourth finger, very interesting! Great picture – I love looking at old wedding photos.

When my daughter wanted a traditional wedding I was so surprised-people still do that?, I asked.
I have to say, I am so happy she did! the ceremony was wonderful from start to finish and I would recommend this to any engaged couple
